How many bookings does a phone-only chauffeur site lose?

Published 25 August 2026 · updated 3 September 2026 · 5 min read

Short answer

The losses concentrate in three groups: visitors browsing outside your answering hours, visitors comparing two or three operators at once, and visitors abroad booking an arrival transfer. All three need a price and a confirmation without speaking to anyone, so a quote form that works at 1am recovers bookings a phone number cannot.

Where the leak actually is

A phone-only site does not lose the customer who wants to talk. It loses the ones who were never going to. Those visitors read your page, do not find a price, and open the next tab — which usually belongs to an aggregator with a form.

Why publishing prices does not start a price war

Operators worry that a published airport price invites undercutting. In practice your local competitors already know your rates, and customers who choose purely on price were never profitable. What a published price buys is trust: it signals that there is no surcharge conversation waiting at the end.

The smallest change that works

  1. 1Put a quote form on the homepage above the fold and on a dedicated booking page.
  2. 2Price your top ten to twenty route pairs; let everything else fall back to an enquiry.
  3. 3Show the price before asking for contact details, so the visitor gets their answer first.
  4. 4Send an immediate confirmation email so nobody wonders whether the request arrived.
  5. 5State your lead time in the form, so 20-minutes-from-now requests do not become angry phone calls.

Track it honestly: count form requests for one month against your usual call volume. If the form only cannibalised calls, you have lost nothing and gained a written record of every job.

Frequently asked

Should I remove my phone number if I add a booking form?
No. Keep both. Corporate and last-minute callers still prefer the phone; the form serves everyone who will not call.
Is a contact form enough instead of a quote form?
Usually not. A contact form asks the visitor to describe their journey and wait; a quote form answers the one question they came with, which is the price.
What details should a booking request capture?
Pickup, destination, date and time, passengers and luggage, vehicle class, flight number for airport work, plus name, email and phone. Anything more reduces completion.
